Can the filter of an air purifier be washed? How to wash it?
The filter of an air purifier can be washed, but not all filters are washable. Currently, the mainstream configuration in air purifiers consists of a pre-filter, HEPA filter, and activated carbon filter. Each layer of filter has different functions and configurations, and the cleaning and maintenance methods vary accordingly.
Pre-filter: Can be directly washed with water.
HEPA filter: Generally cannot be washed with water.
Activated carbon filter: Can be exposed to sunlight for drying.
Pre-filter: This is the first layer of the purification system in air purifiers. It mainly intercepts larger particles of contaminants such as dust, hair, and skin flakes. It is the filter that tends to get dirty most easily. So, can the pre-filter be washed?
In terms of materials, pre-filters are mostly made from various specifications of mesh materials, and washing them with water will not damage the filter itself. Most pre-filters can be washed directly with water.
